There's an understated cool about Katy B – from her high-street honey/girl-next-door good looks to her strong but not overbearing voice – which sets her apart from her fellow Brit School brats.

The 21-year-old from south London, familiar from top 10 hits "On a Mission" and "Lights On", has – with producer Geeneus – made a debut album of subtle, mature, intelligent electronic pop, reminiscent of Sugababes before it all went wrong. Unless I'm going insane, On a Mission sounds like a modern pop classic.
