While other Nashvillians her age (that means you, Kesha) have chosen the quick fix of a pop career, Rose sticks to her roots on this debut seven-song mini-album.

Here, at last, is a country singer relevant and tuned in to the 21st century. Just 19 when Dead Flowers was recorded, Rose can break your heart like Patsy, but bolts on a lyrical panache that suggests a serious star for the future. Her spirit is summed up by a line in "Docket": "I got a fresh pack/ I got a red Bic/ The Surgeon General can suck on my dick". Smoking.
