There's a purity and innocence to Beraha's voice that can leave her exposed in a duo such as this, pianist Turville's spare chording offering nowhere to hide.
Occasional wobbles may even be acknowledged in the lyrics to two of the songs, "Desafinado" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me". Sincerity and a lack of tricksiness reminiscent of Dawn Upshaw, plus saxophonist Bobby Wellins guesting on the opening and closing tunes, win you over.
