Album: Beach House, Teen Dream (Bella Union)

The first two BH albums fitted neatly into the dream-pop bracket and came on a little too woozy for these ears.

Album three has had early reviewers drooling and talk of a Grizzly Bear-like breakthrough are rife. So do Baltimore duo Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand deliver? Yes and no. Teen Dreams is undoubtedly a sonic leap forward, but your reaction to it will be dictated by your feelings towards bands such as Mazzy Star. Lovely in places, then, but not quite the masterpiece some believe it to be.
