Zayn Malik has announced that he will be releasing new music this Friday (25 September) at 5.00am BST.

The former One Direction member has begun a countdown on YouTube to the premiere of a new track titled “Better”.

Zayn also shared a teaser of the forthcoming single on his social media channels, accompanied with the caption: “#better.”

The brief clip suggests the new track will be a mellow R&B ballad and gave fans a preview of what to expect from the music video.

Since it was posted less than one hour ago, the Instagram announcement has been viewed nearly 2.5 million times, with many fans sharing their excitement in the comments.

The forthcoming track “Better” will mark the singer’s first music in nearly two years, since his album Icarus Falls was released in December 2018.

The news follows shortly after Zayn teased new music on his Instagram earlier this month. The 27-year-old shared a polaroid photo of himself with the caption: “Got some stuff to show ya soon!”

The “Pillow Talk” singer is also expecting his first child with girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
