The release date of Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” has been brought forward by five weeks following Fleur East’s X Factor performance.

The 26-year-old’s version of the song topped the iTunes chart following her performance on Saturday night, prompting Ronson’s label to release the original.

The song, which features Bruno Mars, was taken from Mark Ronson’s forthcoming album Uptown Special that was meant to be released in January.

The song has been released by Columbia UK, which is part of Sony Music along with Simon Cowell’s label Syco.

“Uptown Funk” was released as a digital-only single on 10 November but has now been made available to purchase physically.

Fleur East’s cover was out-selling the likes of Taylor Swift and Take That on the iTunes real-time download sales over the weekend.

It has now been overtaken by the “official version”, with the song occupying the number one and number two position on the iTunes download chart.

Simon Cowell said Fleur East’s performance of the song on Saturday was one of the top three in the show’s 10-year history.

Her performance earned her a place in this weekend’s X Factor final alongside Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini.
