The UK's latest storm is called Brian and Arctic Monkeys fans are delighted
Ready your t-shirt and tie combination
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Brian was announced by the Met Office as a storm name for the 2017-18 season last week, and for Arctic Monkeys fans it was about time.
Storms are given a name when there is a risk of medium to high wind impact, but fingers crossed Brianstorm will only be calm, collected and commanding.
"If you don't wear a t-shirt and tie combination on the day that brainstorm comes then we cannot be friends," Ross Buchanan tweeted.
It remains to be seen whether storm Brian hits the band's hometown of Sheffield.
Asked to a little to say about 'Brianstorm's protagonist once, frontman Alex Turner could only manage: "I can’t remember Brian now… I don’t know if he were in my imagination or what… it’s a blank spot in my brain… I think that’s what [Brian] wanted."
Grasping at straws, another music-referencing storm is set to come on: Aileen.
Arctic Monkeys have been quiet of late, their last album, AM, being released back in 2013.
