From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

New Twenty One Pilots music may be on the horizon.

Precisely one year after the band announced its hiatus, announced with a GIF of a closing eye, fans were sent an e-mail with a similar GIF and the text: "ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING?"\

This, of course, would suggest the band is readying itself to release new music. Twenty One Pilots' last album, Blurryface, was released in 2015, becoming the first album ever to have each of its tracks achieve gold status.

Some astute fans had noticed, on 29 June, that the band had posted an 18-second long clip to their since disabled DEMA website. Though heavily distorted, this would presumably be a hint at what's to come.

The duo, comprised of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, also first heralded their hiatus with some carefully selected lyrics: "And now I sit in silence".
