From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 48-year-old builder became a YouTube sensation when a video of him ranting at football fans went viral and on Sunday, he scored his first top five hit with novelty single “Got No Fans”.
The Raider’s rising fame has led to talks with the reality TV show’s producers, but he is unable to confirm whether he’ll be joining other rumoured stars Perez Hilton and Katie Hopkins when the series returns on 7 January.
“I’m up for it, but we’ll see what happens,” he told MirrorOnline.
The Raider beat One Direction, Take That and Taylor Swift in the Christmas number one race this week, despite losing out to X Factor winner Ben Haenow and his cover of OneRepublic’s “Something I Need”.
Profits from “Got No Fans” are going towards Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Autism Concern and, naturally, Wealdstone Raiders Youth FC.
The track sees the Raider call out celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Piers Morgan, Gemma Collins and Kim Kardashian.
