From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kristen Stewart is getting down and gritty in the new video for The Rolling Stones' cover of 'Ride 'Em on Down'.

Originally recorded in 1955 by Eddie Taylor, the track now gets a revamp thanks to the legendary rockers, forming the first single from the band's 25th studio album. Blue & Lonesome sees a brand new collection of blues covers from the band, marking their first album release in over a decade.

The video sees Stewart in full freewheeling, opportunistic mode; cruising through a near-abandoned Downtown Los Angeles in her Mustang, and letting the music course through her veins. It's basically a chance for the actress to put on show her own carefree brand of cool, and it's a pretty mesmerising thing to watch.

Stewart even subtly nods to the album's cover: a blue version of the band's logo, as she turns her own tongue blue from the lollipop she's treating herself to as a little behind-the-wheel snack. She's just so chilled out, you know? Chilled out enough even to smoke right next to gas pumps without any fear of imminent death.

This isn't the first time Stewart has cropped up on the music video scene, having put in a memorable performance as a track-suited bro in the video for Jenny Lewis' 'Just One of the Guys', joining Anne Hathaway and Brie Larson.

Blue & Lonesome was originally announced in October, with original members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood teaming up with Darryl Jones on bass; alongside Chuck Leavell and Matt Clifford on keyboard. Featuring covers of Little Walter's 'Just Your Fool', Little Johnny Taylor's 'I Can't Quit You', and Willie Dixon's 'I Can't Quit You', the album was recorded over just three days.
