Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Rolling Stones' 1972 album Exile on Main Street is set to be reissued with an additional ten previously unheard tracks included in a bonus version, announced the band's website on February 25. One of the defining albums in the Stones' catalog, the Exile reissue will be available on May 17 in the UK and May 18 in the US.
The new tracks were apparently recorded around the time Exile was being made (about 1968-1972) and were unearthed in the process of producing the reissue. New songs include "Plundered My Soul," "Dancing in the Light," "Following the River," and "Pass The Wine," as well as alternate versions of "Soul Survivor" and "Loving Cup..
Accompanying the release of Exile on Main Street, the band also announced that a new documentary, Stones in Exile, will be shown on network television in the US and through BBC Worldwide internationally. Produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker John Battsek and directed by Stephen Kijak, the documentary features rare, never-before-seen archival film, photos, and interviews, as well as conversations with the band and artists they've influenced.
The Exile on Main Street reissue will be available from Universal Music in three versions: as a CD with the original 18 tracks; as a deluxe CD edition with the 10 bonus tracks; and in a super deluxe package including vinyl, the documentary DVD, and a collector's book.
Exile on Main Street became the number-one album worldwide following its 1972 release. It was previously remasted and re-released by Virgin Records in 1994.
