Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Pale White have revealed their new video for "Peace of Mind" which you can watch first via The Independent.
The Newcastle indie-rock trio, who have been busy on tour supporting We Are Scientists, say they wanted to show everyone "what the world would be like if it was covered in tin foil".
Of the song, they explain: "Our second offering this year. Let it rip through the bone-structured cage, which cradles the unpredictable and often misunderstood muscle that is the human brain. We are vultures circling our own demise, until we choose to regain consciousness."

Q&A with The Pale White
What are you listening to at the moment?
There’s a few albums that we’re obsessed with at the moment. We’re currently on the moon delving deep into Arctic Monkeys ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’. It’s amazing to see a band evolve like this, it’s so rare. Not afraid of taking risks and keeping the ‘album’ alive by creating a piece you have to listen to start to finish to completely ‘get’. A lot of respect for Alex Turner, truly one of the greats.
We’re also bang into Flyte’s debut, ‘The Loved Ones’. A masterpiece that I feel is way over looked, but positive it will be rediscovered once they rocket to stardom in the next few years.
Other than that and amongst a few others, Demob Happy’s new album ‘Holy Doom’ has been rattling our socks off.
What are your plans for 2018?
We’re currently on tour with We Are Scientists which has been amazing, Then we have some dates with Sam Fender and then a run with Twin Atlantic.
But the main focus for the year is our next EP which we’re currently working on. It’s nearly finished and we feel it’s our best material to date. It’s easy to get excited and say that about every new song or idea, but we’ve sat with these for a while now and feel just as excited.
What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?
The first one was supporting The Subways. We had been rehearsing together for around a month when a friend of ours who promotes at a local venue had passed a demo onto them as a support suggestion without us even knowing.

We then got a random call saying we’re supporting The Subways in a few weeks which was a bit of a shock to the system considering we only had around 3 songs at that point... but that was the beginning!
The best show we’ve done has to be our home town sell out at Riverside Newcastle... or Glastonbury. Because, well... it’s Glastonbury!
