From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Now in its fourth season, The Met: Live in HD transmits live Metropolitan Opera performances in high definition to theaters around the world. On Saturday, November 7 at 1:00pm EST, the Met will present its third Live in HD broadcast of the season, of Puccini's Turandot.

A production by Franco Zefferelli, the Met's Turandot stars Maria Guleghina as the Chinese princess Turandot and Marcello Giordani as Calàf (singing the famous aria "Nessun Dorma").

Turandot will be transmitted to hundreds of movie theaters in more than 40 countries worldwide. For a full list of theaters, visit The Met: Live in HD (http://www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/broadcast/hd_events_alternates.aspx) online. In addition to the November 7 live transmission, encore performances are planned at some theaters.

Along with full opera performances, Live in HD presentations include interviews with performers, producers, and technicians during intermission and other behind-the-scenes footage. The next The MET: Live in HD broadcast, of Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, is scheduled for December 19.
