The Last Shadow Puppets: Alex Turner and Miles Kane confirm second album release date, pay tribute to David Bowie

The musical duo's first album in eight years is arriving in April

The Last Shadow Puppets have confirmed the release of their first album in eight years.

Speaking exclusively to the NME, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and Miles Kane - previously of The Rascals - announced that their sophomore record, titled Everything You've Come To Expect, will be released on 1 April.

The duo's acclaimed debut album, The Age of the Understatement, was released in 2008 and spawned singles such as "Standing Next To Me" and "My Mistakes Were Made For You."

Their reunion was announced by Kane in 2012, but plans were put on hold when Turner's band released their fifth studio album AM in 2013 before embarking on a year-long tour.

For the LP, The Last Shadow Puppets have been joined by producer and drummer James Ford, Owen Pallett - who has provided the string arrangement - and bassist Zachary Dawes whom Turner recently collaborated with on Mini Mansions single "Vertigo".

It was recorded last summer at Rick Rubin's Californian Shangri-La studios which were once owned by Bob Dylan and The Band.

The supergroup recently whetted fans' appetites by releasing a music video for album track "Bad Habits", hinting at a change of direction.

Speaking to the NME, Turner and Kane also paid tribute to the late musician David Bowie who passed away on 10 January.

Turner stated, "He's sort of in the DNA of every record, to some extent. He's been built in for a long time."

"I had a blue day on the day he died; I definitely had a cloud over me," Kane commented.
