Tekashi 6ix9ine teases new music after judge gives him permission to record videos on home confinement
Rapper has been granted compassionate release due to the coronavirus pandemic
Tekashi 6ix9ine has teased new music after a judge granted him permission to record music videos while on home confinement.
The rapper, who was granted compassionate release earlier this month due to the coronavirus pandemic, posted on his Instagram Story on Wednesday: “You ready? 8 May” – suggesting he will release new music at that date.
Judge Paul Engelmayer on Wednesday granted a request by 6ix9ine’s attorney asking for his home confinement to be expanded to his backyard.
“The defendant is permitted to conduct employment-related activities outside the residence but within the confines of the rented property for two hours per week on one specific day that needs advanced approval by the Probation Officer,” the judge wrote in a court document approving the request.
6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, was sentenced to two years in prison in December 2019 after pleading guilty to charges stemming from his involvement in the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.
The 23-year-old Hernandez acted as a witness for the prosecution.
Judge Engelmayer, who was in charge of the sentencing, cited Hernandez’s cooperation as a “game-changing” factor in the case.
According to court documents, Hernandez would have been released around 1 August 2020 with credit for good behaviour while in custody.
His sentence was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to his lawyer, the rapper suffers from asthma, which puts him at heightened risk should he contract Covid-19.
