Taylor Swift says she's re-recording her old albums in AMA acceptance speech

Taylor Swift fans are trying to guess what her new announcement could be.

The singer is due to appear on Good Morning America on Friday (12 February), during which she will be making a “surprise announcement”.

This has left many fans speculating about the nature of the news, with one fan tweeting: “THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS GONNA BE HUGE, HIDE YALL FAVES. TAYLOR IS COMING.”

“The fact Taylor is making a whole a** announcement on live tv instead of tweeting makes me so much more nervous,” another fan wrote.

Many of Swift’s fans have suggested that it will have something to do with Swift recording new versions of her musical back catalogue.

The “Bad Blood” musician has been rerecording her first six albums following the sale of her masters rights to music manager Scooter Braun.

After Swift previewed a new version of “Love Story”, one of her earliest hits from 2009, on a Match.com advert in December, her followers were left convinced the full track is coming with the announcement.

“LOVE STORY RERECORDINGS ANNOUNCEMENT YUPOPPPPPPPPP,” one fan commented, as “Taylor’s version” and “Love Story” both trended on Twitter.

“What if @taylorswift13 was to drop the re-recorded version of “Love Story” on Valentine’s Day!!! It would be amazing!! Please Taylor???”

“Okay but ‘Love Story’ is the one song that @taylorswift13 has consistently performed at every one of her 5 headlining tours. If this is the song she’s going to share with us first... I’m so emotional,” another fan wrote.

“Anyone else feel like their personal journey with Taylor is about to come full circle?” one fan asked. “Like, I remember when ‘Love Story’ was released the first time and I was able to see her rise to fame with it and now she’s gonna release a version which she will actually own, I'm very emotional.”

Last year, fans were convinced that Taylor was releasing a third album in 2020 after spotting the word “Woodvale” on the Folklore cover art.

But while they assumed it was another Easter egg teasing a follow up to Evermore, Swift revealed that it was actually a code name for Folklore that had accidentally been left in the picture.

“I tend to sort of be annoyingly secret-agent-y about dropping hints and clues and Easter eggs,” she said. “And sometimes I take it too far and I make a mistake.”
