Taylor Swift makes last-minute voting plea as she shows support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

‘This is your last chance to make your voice heard and to make your vote count,’ Swift told her fans

Taylor Swift has made a last minute plea to her fans to get out and vote in the US presidential election.

In a video shared on Twitter on Monday (2 November), the “You Need To Calm Down” singer encouraged her followers to head to the polls before they close later today (3 November).

“Hey, so we are all very stressed out about this election, rightfully so, I feel you,” Swift told the camera.

“But allow me to be the one millionth person to remind you that tomorrow is your last chance to make your voice heard and to make your vote count. So if you haven’t voted yet, please do. Stay safe, wear a mask, take care of yourselves, I love you very much. Happy voting.”

The video then ended with an illustration of Democratic candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, which bore the word: “United.”

In October, Swift confirmed that she would be voting for Biden in the US election, saying that she believes his ticket will begin America’s “healing process”.

“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election,” the 30-year-old told V magazine. “Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.”

The singer said that the US needed to elect a president “who recognises that people of colour deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included”.

“Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first,” she added.

Swift first made her political views public in October 2018, when she endorsed two Democratic candidates in Tennessee’s midterm elections.
