From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will premiere at Sundance Film Festival in Utah, it has been announced.

The forthcoming serial killer flick, starring Zac Efron as Ted Bundy, will be shown on 26 January.

Metallica legend James Hetfield joined the cast in February 2018, making his acting debut in the role of “Officer Bob Hayward”.

The film reunited Hetfield with director Joe Berlinger – who was at the helm for Metallica's 2004 documentary film Some Kind Of Monster – alongside a cast that includes Zac Efron, Lily Collins and Joe Parsons.

Metallica resume their Worldwired Tour with a stadium and arena run in the UK and Europe this summer.

Extremely Wicked is based on the original screenplay Black List by Michael Werwie, and details the story of serial killer Bundy and his relationship with new partner Liz Kloepfer (Lily Collins). A full synopsis can be read below:

“Ted (Zac Efron) is crazy-handsome, smart, charismatic, affectionate. And cautious single mother Liz Kloepfer (Lily Collins) ultimately cannot resist his charms. For her, Ted is a match made in heaven, and she soon falls head over heels in love with the dashing young man.

“A picture of domestic bliss, the happy couple seems to have it all figured out... until, out of nowhere, their perfect life is shattered.

“Ted is arrested and charged with a series of increasingly grisly murders. Concern soon turns to paranoia – and, as evidence piles up, Liz is forced to consider that the man with whom she shares her life could actually be a psychopath.”
