From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Victoria Beckham has put rumours to rest about the Spice Girls going on tour in a new interview.
The designer - also known as Posh Spice - spoke to British Vogue and refuted claims that the pop five-piece would in fact be touring.
"I’m not going on tour," she told the magazine. "The girls aren’t going on tour. It was so great to see the girls. We had such a fun lunch. It was really, really, really lovely. I still speak to them all individually, but for us all to get together was really lovely. There’s something so strong in the message of what the Spice Girls stood for. What is that in the future? What does that look like? We were just bouncing ideas around. Brainstorming."
Beckham's answer was vague, which isn't a surprise considering there have been no formal details announced of what the band may or may not be planning.
Last week, all five original band members; Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm reunited at Horner's home and announced they were working on "new opportunities" together.
An official statement about the members reuniting said they "enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching-up" and "are overwhelmed by how much interest there is" for the Spice Girls.
"The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together," the statement also said. "We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations."
Beckham was the first member of the band to share news of the reunion saying, "Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x #friendshipneverends #girlpower."
Every few years, rumours of a reunion surface, but now there's physical proof that the band is actually discussing opportunities.
So, while Beckham does say there will be "no tour," she doesn't say that the Spice Girls won't be playing select shows.
Needless to say, we haven't lost hope yet.
