From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It appears that the Spice Girls didn't actually ask Victoria Beckham if she wanted to join the rest of the group on their 2019 reunion tour.
Mel B, Mel C, Geri Horner (formely Halliwell) and Emma Bunton – four original members of the iconic 1990s pop group – are reuniting for a series of stadium shows next year.
While it was reported that Posh had opted out of the reunion, an interview set to air on 10 November on The Jonathan Ross Show shows Mel C revealing that they never officially asked her to be part of the comeback.
"Do you know what is actually quite funny?" she says. "I saw Victoria recently and obviously we've all been in contact.. she really supports us and we really support her. But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked. We just presumed."
Geri added: "I spoke to her... before the announcement and she has said it for years that she just doesn't want to do it anymore, so we knew that."
"She just didn't want to do it... she was busy with her fashion and she has moved on," she continued. "We support her and she has been a huge part of our lives and we care about her so it's all good."
Emma Bunton said the "door is open" if Victoria changes her mind and decides to get involved in the reunion.
The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday at 10.05pm on ITV
