Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

My Chemical Romance have split after 12 years as a band.

The popular alternative rock band, associated with the “emo” youth subculture, scored a number two album in the UK in 2006 with The Black Parade.

The record’s lead single, "Welcome to the Black Parade", was a number one hit.

In a blog, the band thanked their fans for their support.

“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing,” they wrote. “We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would.

We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible.

“We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.”

Lead singer Gerard Way took to Twitter to say: “Beyond any sadness, what I feel the most is pride.”
