From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sia was so determined to get to one of her concerts that she ended up on a 13-hour road trip through Australia after her flight was cancelled.

Due to severe weather the pop star was unable to get a flight, so drove with her team all the way from Melbourne to the Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

"I may be five minutes late," the singer tweeted on 2 December. "We couldn't catch a plane due to weather, so drove thirteen hours then blew a tire which has given me crazy diarrhoea. Bear with me guys. I love you."

She later tweeted: "Four minutes from venue. Fully dressed. Ready to go. Bear with me. Massive apologies."

Fans didn't seem to mind too much, and tweeted pictures to their idol as they waited in the rain.

Sia was joined by dancer Maddie Ziegler, and supported by UK pop star Charli XCX.

She recently released her new album Everyday is Christmas, a record comprised entirely of original songs, after realising how there was a "shortage" of good Christmas music.
