From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sharon Osbourne said she is "devastated" by her rocker husband Ozzy's return to drink and drugs, but said the family will cope with it.

The 64-year-old Black Sabbath singer, who has previously struggled with addiction, admitted in a message on his Facebook page earlier this month that he had fallen off the wagon.

Speaking on her US chatshow The Talk, she said: "It's our business, we're dealing with it, we're not getting divorced.

"Am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes, I am devastated right now."

The star said she had not realised her husband was using prescription drugs, adding: "We shall deal with it, this too shall pass otherwise my husband will be taken to hospital to get my foot removed from his arse".

Earlier this month, Ozzy apologised to his family for his "insane behaviour" after reports the singer and his wife of 30 years, a former X Factor judge, were living separately.

The pair and two of their three children, Jack and Kelly, shot to fame in MTV reality show The Osbournes.
