Sam Smith performs for virtual Big Weekend

Sam Smith has announced the release of a brand new single, which will arrive ahead of their long-awaited third album.

On Wednesday (29 July), the British singer teased a ”special announcement” on social media, with many fans predicting they would share details about the new record.

Instead, Smith shared a small clip of a surprise new song, titled “My Oasis”. is a collaboration with Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy.

The single, which is a collaboration with Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy, will be released at 7.20pm BST on Thursday (30 July).

It will be their first new song since the release of Demi Lovato duet “I’m Ready” in April.

The news comes just over a year since the release of the song “How Do You Sleep?”, which was intended to appear on Smith’s postponed forthcoming album.

It will be their third record in all following on from 2017’s The Thrill of It All.

Smith, who is worth an estimated £33m, is best known for their songs “Money On My Mind”, “Stay with Me” and the Spectre them song ”Writing’s On the Wall”, which won an Oscar in 2016.

Earlier this year, Smith claimed that, despite not getting tested, they “100 per cent” contracted coronavirus.

Their new album has been delayed due to Covid-19. It will be their third record in all following on from 2017’s The Thrill of It All.
