Rihanna, who is the wealthiest female musician in the world with an estimated £468m fortune, has made the UK rich list for the first time.

The singer, who moved to London last year, has overtaken Elton John and Mick Jagger to claim third place in the UK musician category of The Sunday Times Rich List.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Paul McCartney are joint first, with fortunes of £800m each.

Rihanna's wealth can largely be attributed to her partnership with the French luxury goods brand, LVMH. Their cosmetics label Fenty Beauty is valued at £2.45bn, with the 32-year-old having a reported 15% stake worth £351m.

"She somewhat caught us by surprise," Robert Watts, who compiles the rich list each year, told the BBC. "She's well placed to be the first musician to reach billionaire status in the UK.”

Rihanna has not released an album since 2016's Anti. Her £468m fortune makes her the richest female musician not just in the UK, but the world. Madonna ranks as the second-richest, with £462m, while Celine Dion’s wealth is estimated at £365m.

The rest of the rich list, which details the wealth of the 1,000 richest people in Britain and is in its 32nd year, is released this Sunday (17 May).
