Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Reading and Leeds festival may be three days long, but the organisers have somehow managed to pack in five headliners.

The final headline slot has been taken by Biffy Clyro and Fallout Boy, who have been announced as co-headliners, with 45 other acts also being added to the bill.

Foals and Disclosure were previously announced as co-headliners with Red Hot Chilli Peppers holding the final slot.

“We're baaaaack!” said Biffy Clyro of their slot, having previously headlined in 2013. “We are honoured to be asked to close Reading and Leeds this summer. We had one of the best nights of our lives last time and we're going to do all we can to make it even bigger and better in 2016. You ain't seen nothing yet motherf*ckers!!”

Fall Out Boy added: "It’s pretty surreal to hear we are going to be co-headlining Reading and Leeds.

“R&L was our first real festival experience outside of the U.S. and since the start we have buckled in and had an insane and memorable experience every time we have played. This is it, the big one for us and we are excited to be a part of it."

Joining them will be British rockers The Vaccines, Brits Critics Choice award recipient Jack Garratt, US rockers Haim and indie-electro trio Chvches.

The Wombats, Die Antwoord, Cage the Elephant and A$AP Rocky have also been added to the lengthy line-up.
