Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The second wave of Reading and Leeds Festival acts has been announced, with Foals and Disclosure set to co-headline.

Joining them will be Imagine Dragons, Two Door Cinema Club, The Internet and Fetty Wapp, all of which are UK festival exclusives.

Jack Ü, Crystal Castles and Nothing But Thieves have also been announced to be playing over the weekend.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers were announced last year as one of the headliners, with The 1975, Courteeners and Boy Better Know previously confirmed.

On headlining the Festival, Foals said: "We're absolutely buzzing to be headlining Reading and Leeds this year. It's a dream come true. I used to watch Nirvana live at Reading '92, on VHS, repeatedly while dying my hair blue and learning how to play guitar, badly.

“We've worked our way up on our own terms and to be given the chance to headline one of world’s most iconic festivals is a huge achievement for us and hopefully a sign for all bands, that, if you stick to your guns and focus on what matters, you'll get there and smash it. Onwards and upwards friends. Long live the guitar band.”

The band has previously headlined Bestival, and will also headline Bilbao BBK alongside Arcade Fire. Reading and Leeds takes place between 26 - 28 August.
