The singer discussed his finances with Gayle King in an interview taped before he was taken into custody on Wednesday after telling a judge he could not pay $161,000 in back child support.
Kelly’s interview with King on CBS This Morning aired in part on Wednesday, and another segment was broadcast on Thursday morning.
The embattled artist, who pleaded not guilty last month to charges that he sexually assaulted three teenage girls and a fourth woman, told the interviewer: “So many people have been stealing my money, people who are connected to my account.
“I went by myself for the first time to Bank of America. Didn’t know what I was doing, didn’t know what the hell was going on.”
When King asked him when his trip to the bank took place, Kelly told her it was about three weeks to a month ago, and confirmed that it was the first time he had gone to Bank of America by himself.
“I was so tired of not knowing where my money is, what my publishing is,” he added.
Asked about claims that he has run out of money because he had to pay so much in settlements, Kelly replied: “Lie.”
Kelly, who alleges he lost money because other people had access to his bank account, told King he had $350,000 to his name and that he was in the process of transferring that sum to a different account at the time of his arrest in February.
Later in the interview, the singer got emotional while discussing child support.
“How can I pay child support? How?” he sobbed. “If my ex-wife is destroying my name and I can’t work? How can I work? How can I get paid?”

This moment echoed a previous sequence in which Kelly grew increasingly agitated during his interview with King, while discussing claims that he has held women against their will.
The singer’s next child support hearing is set for 13 March. Kelly is also scheduled to appear in court on the sex abuse charges on 22 March.
