The Fulton County district attorney’s office is launching an investigation into the R&B singer, TMZ reported in the wake of the airing of the series Surviving R Kelly.
“We do not have any comment at this time,” Chris Hooper, spokesman for Fulton County’s district attorney office, told The Independent.
Some of the alleged victims featured in the documentary series have been contacted by investigators, TMZ reported.
Lawyers representing the family of Jocelyn Savage, one of the women featured in the series, told CNN that Fulton County’s District Attorney office is asking for a list of witnesses regarding the sexual misconduct allegations brought forward in 2017.
It is also reported that investigators have reached out to another woman featured in the documentary series, Asante McGee.
The three-night, six-hour series included testimony from women accusing Kelly of mental and physical abuse. The series averaged 2.1 million viewers across its run from Thursday to Sunday.
A representative for Kelly did not immediately respond to enquiries, but Kelly has repeatedly denied the allegations against him.
TMZ had previously quoted a source in "day to day" contact with Kelly who said the R&B singer claimed he didn't watch it but is “disgusted” by it.
The singer reportedly believes the documentary is a “vendetta” against him.
