Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first 100 acts scheduled to perform at Primavera Sound Festival 2021 have been announced.

The 2020 festival was cancelled due to safety concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic. The event is usually held in Barcelona during early Summer.

Artists including Lana Del Rey, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, and The Strokes had been scheduled to perform.

Here is everything you need to know about Primavera Festival 2021...

Which acts are scheduled to perform?

Primavera has announced many of the acts who are set to take to the stage at the 2021 festival.

These include The Strokes, Tame Impala, Gorillaz, FKA Twigs and Tyler, the Creator.

The line-up also features Pavement, Jorja Smith, Beck, Caribou, Disclosure, Brockhampton, Iggy Pop and Bikini Kill, as well as Idles, Mabel, The National, Rina Sawayama and Jehnny Beth. You can see the full list below.

In a statement, Primavera organisers said: “we are especially proud to announce that the first names in the Primavera Sound Barcelona 2021 line-up feature a majority of artists who reconfirm their presence at the festival, as well as the occasional very special new addition.

“A first selection of artists that condenses the spirit of the festival for an edition that is as long awaited as this 20th anniversary edition is, and that will be updated soon with new names, both from the 2020 lineup and new surprises.”

When will the next Primavera Sound Festival take place?

Primavera Sound will be held from 2 to 6 June 2021, in Barcelona, Spain.

Organisers had previously spoken out about the decision to cancel the 2020 festival, saying: “Whoever said that the second chances are never good did not imagine that we would experience something like what is happening this 2020.”

“With the whole world on pause due to the evolution of the global pandemic and with the live music sector holding its breath facing a summer without festivals, we can only look forward: towards 2021, specifically, the year in which we are going to recover everything that will be pending from 2020.”

How can you buy tickets to Primavera Sound?

Tickets for next year’s festival will be available to purchase online from Wednesday 3 June.

Any festival-goers who had purchased tickets for the aborted 2020 festival will still be able to use those tickets to gain entry to the 2021 event.
