Pete Doherty led chants of “oh, Jeremy Corbyn” at a live show in Manchester on Tuesday (10 December), and urged his fans: “Don’t let it be the Tories.”

Performing with his band The Libertines at O2 Victoria Warehouse, the musician was filmed on stage discussing the forthcoming general election.

On the subject of Boris Johnson, Doherty recalled a friend telling him he wouldn’t help the prime minister if he saw him “lying and dying in the street”.

Video of the concert was filmed and shared by the account @LabourRedRose:

Fans at the gig also reported Doherty declaring “f*** the Tories” during the show.

A number of artists have spoken out ahead of the election, whether in support of a specific party or simply to encourage their fans to use their vote.

Among the most high-profile to have got involved in the election include Dua Lipa, Stormzy, Kano, Nadine Shah, Professor Green and Shura.
