Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Paul McCartney has recruited Emma Stone for the video of his new song “Who Cares”.

The anti-bullying short was premiered on Sunday night at Beverly Hills’s Fine Arts Theatre shortly after McCartney played the final date of his current tour at London’s 02 Arena.

Directed by tour photographer Brantley Gutierrez and choreographer Ryan Heffington, the video – designed to kick off an anti-bullying social media campaign named “#WhoCaresIDo” – sees Stone and McCartney alongside mime-like dancers and harlequins.

"Who Cares" is taken from McCartney's latest record, Egypt Station, which was released earlier this year.

In a press release, McCartney said: “My hope is that if there are kids being bullied – and there are... maybe by listening to this song and watching this video, they might just think it’s not as bad... that it’s the kind of thing you can just stand up to and laugh off and get through.”

Oscar-winning actor Stone’s will next be seen in Yorgos Lanthimos comedy The Favourite, in which she stars alongside Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz.

McCartney’s London show – attended by One Direction star Harry Styles, Emma Thompson and his daughter Stella McCartney – lasted for over three hours and saw the former Beatle tear through hits, including “From Me to You,” “Blackbird” and “Band on the Run”.

The set’s highlight arrived when he welcomed Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood onto the stage for an encore performance of Let It Be track “Get Back”.

McCartney is strongly expected to be announced as a headliner at next year's Glastonbury Festival. The only act currently confirmed to play is Stormzy.
