Parklife cancels tickets of man selling them for more than double their value

Parklife has cancelled the tickets of a man who attempted to sell them for more than double their original price.

General admission tickets for the Manchester-based music festival sold out rapidly after going on sale earlier this morning (24 March). Headline acts for this year’s event – which takes place in September – include Skepta, Megan Thee Stallion and Da Baby.

A Twitter user, who claimed to have previously won Parklife tickets in a social media competition hosted by the festival, seemingly attempted to sell his tickets for more than double their value.

Commenting on Parklife’s announcement on Twitter that general admission tickets had sold out, the user wrote: “3 weekend tickets for sale £350 each.”

Another user criticised the seller’s price, stating the fee was “ridiculous given they are £150 each”, to which he responded: “Supply and demand.”

The festival’s official Twitter account was eventually tagged in the interaction, and wrote: “Lol. Your tickets have just been cancelled pal.”

Parklife has previously warned people against purchasing resale tickets. A statement on their website reads: “We hate seeing customers turn up to the festival with fake tickets not being able to get in.”

It warns that “the vast majority of tickets sold on secondary ticketing platforms & over Twitter or Facebook are fake”.

Parklife is the latest festival to announce its intentions to go ahead this year, with major events including All Points East, Field Day, Reading and Leeds, Wireless and Latitude all scheduled to take place this summer amid plans to ease current lockdown restrictions.
