From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Goth-pop band Pale Waves have said that they are “grateful to be alive” after their tour bus crashed last week.
They had confirmed at the time that there were no serious injuries. The band were travelling to Germany to support Halsey on her European tour.
On Instagram, drummer Ciara Doran revealed: ”this will stay with me forever.”
“I know I’ve kept quiet about what exactly happened, it’s been taxing both mentally and physically and I still cannot wrap my head around it.”
The post is accompanied by images of the accident, with one particularly worrying photo showing the bus burned out and overturned.
“Being trapped in the bus after it rolled off the road is one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced,” she continued.
“We honestly thought we were going to die. The injuries will heal but this will stay with me and everyone involved for forever.
The crash has meant that the Manchester-based band have had to pull out of several planned performances.
