Basement Jaxx have been announced as the headline act at Notting Hill Carnival on 25 August.

The electronic dance duo will headline the RBMA Sound System Stage alongside Jamaican reggae acts Protoje and Yaardcore, Tropkillaz from Brazil, Kalbata, Mixmonster, Jus Now, Mixpak Soundsytem and The Heatwave.

Simon Radcliffe and Felix Buxton have previously performed at Glastonbury, Wireless and O2, but will perform in a makeshift space under the Westway at the August Bank Holiday event.

Last year, acts at the RBMA Sound System Stage included Disclosure, Eliza Dolittle, the Marley brothers and David Rodigan.

Radcliffe, who co-founded Basement Jaxx 20 years ago, told the Evening Standard: “We thought it would be fun and we’ve got some new music to play, we’ve been touring, doing lots of gigs around Europe. Our music, especially the new album, it’s got a carnival summer feel to it...Carnival is the sound of the city, a cosmopolitan city and it’s come from that.

“It’s the breeding ground for what Britain’s been known for musically for the last 30 years. It’s something we’ve definitely drawn inspiration from.”

The party on 25 August is free to attend but guests need to apply online for guest list using a ballot system from Monday until next Friday on redbull.co.uk/rbmacarnival.
