It's been a strong year for the viral video: with anything from mutant spider dogs to social experiments catching our eye for almost five whole minutes. These are the ten that garnered the most attention in the UK this year.

1) Frozen – Let It Go Sing-along | Official Disney HD – WaltDisneyStudiosUK

Inevitably Frozen was going to crop up on the list at least once. Because everyone wanted to find out that weird word Idina Menzel used (fractals), the lyric video for Let It Go has clocked up almost 250m views.

2) Bars & Melody – Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act | Britain’s Got Talent 2014 - Britain’sGotTalent09

An inspiring pair of school kids managed to make Simon Cowell smile (probably because he was picturing how much this emotional blackmail would improve his ratings).

3) Nike Football: Winner Stays. ft. Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Rooney, Ibrahimović, Iniesta & more

Fancy footwork and featured appearances from superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Gerard Piqué, Gonzalo Higuaín, Mario Götze, Eden Hazard, Thiago Silva, Andrea Pirlo, David Luiz, Andrés Iniesta, Thibaut Courtois, and Tim Howard. Oh, and the Hulk.

4) Look Up – Gary Turk

A video telling us to, erm… stop watching viral videos and log off for a bit: this five-minute spoken word film ironically took the internet by storm, dividing opinions over whether it was thought-provoking or hypocritical.

5) Q&A SUNDAY KSI | With My Girlfriend

What it says on the tin.

6) Frozen – A Musical feat. Disney Princesses

Good intentions and some dedicated costume work make this DIY video seem slightly less embarrassing than it should have been. Aiming to shine a light on princess stereotypes, it certainly got everyone’s attention, with 61,430,148 views at the time of writing.

7) Mutant Giant Spider Dog (SA Wardega)

Definitely one of the best YouTube videos to come out of 2014, a genius dog owner decided to dress his faithful hound up as a mutant spider and unleash it on the unsuspecting residents of… wherever it is he lives.

8) FUNNY MONTAGE.. #2

Videos of people playing video games is nothing new, but Swedish commentator PewDiePie has ruled over the lot of them, with his channel becoming the most subscribed on YouTube and boasting more views than RihannaVEVO, surpassing 6.6 billion video views in November 2014.

9) FIRST KISS

Although this might sound weird - asking a bunch of strangers to snog each other while being filmed – the result was a rather touching (and at times pretty steamy) video. Less touching when it turned out the kisses were just a ploy by a company in order to sell some clothes for their autumn/winter line.

10) Katy Perry ft. Juicy J - "Dark Horse" PARODY

Katy Perry’s video for ‘Dark Horse’ attracted additional views because it was controversial. The parody version racked up the hits because it was pure, unapologetic silliness that used Auto-Tune to much as possible.
