Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

On February 12, the most blogged musical act of the moment is experimental rock band Yeasayer, followed by British bands Hot Chip and Massive Attack. All three acts recently released studio albums, and many bloggers are sharing songs from the albums as part of their weekly MP3 roundups.

Trip-hop duo Massive Attack released its fifth studio album, Heligoland, on February 9. In addition to songs straight off the album, bloggers today are sharing a remix by Brazilian DJ/producer Gui Boratto of the duo's song "Paradise Circus," which features guest vocalist Hope Sandoval. Daily Beatz (dailybeatz.com) says the track "has its fair share of welcome highs and lows and becomes really unexpectedly beautiful in the last few minutes, all while maintaining the eerie integrity of the original song."

UK alternative dance band Delphic is getting mention Friday as bloggers share several different remixes of the group's track "Doubt," off the group's debut album Acolyte. Delphic itself is often in the blogs with its remixes of music by other bands. Battery in Your Leg (batteryinyourleg.com) explains why many of the MP3s shared on blogs are remixes: "Bloggers these days end up receiving more remixes than original music. ...Out of say 100 emails I receive a day, I'd say at least 50 of them are remixes. ...you have to spend quite a lot of time sifting through them... ."
