From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Brooklyn indie duo MGMT holds its spot as the most blogged musical act of the moment on March 11, one month before the group releases its second album, Congratulations. New to second and third place, according to The Hype Machine, are French electro-house artist Kavinsky and Austin, Texas indie pop band Neon Indian.

Kavinsky, born Vincent Belorgey, has a production style that is often compared to acts such as Danger and Daft Punk. He is especially known for his 2006 track "Testarossa Autodrive," which can be heard in a remix by SebastiAn in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV. Kavinsky has released two new singles, "Nightcall" and "Pacific Coast Highway," which are due out as part of an EP on iTunes March 26 and as a physical release shortly thereafter.

New among the most blogged acts is Broken Bells, an American indie rock band that features producer Danger Mouse (of Gnarls Barkley) and The Shins lead singer James Mercer. The duo issued a self-titled album on March 9, and bloggers are sharing a variety of mp3s from the highly anticipated release. Untitled Records (www.untitledrecords.com) describes the phenomenon: "Two guys who are extremely gifted in making music get together decide to make an indie-rock experimental record that has the music scene all salivating and hailing praise."
