From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In a new interview, the “Wrecking Ball” singer revealed that she is back in the studio following the release of single “Midnight Sky”.
“We’ve been working on a Metallica cover album and I’m here working on that,” she told Interview Magazine.
“We’re so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this. At first, it felt uninspiring and now I’ve been totally ignited.”
Cyrus first covered Metallica in 2019, when she performed the band’s classic track “Nothing Else Matters” during her Pyramid Stage set at Glastonbury.
The singer has made headlines in recent weeks for releasing a selection of musical covers during lockdown.
Earlier this week, Cyrus sent fans wild with a live version of “Zombie” by The Cranberries and “Boys Don’t Cry” by The Cure.
She also released a cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” as a B-side to “Midnight Sky”.
Cyrus’s forthcoming seventh studio album, She is Miley Cyrus, is scheduled for release in November this year.
Dua Lipa and Billy Idol are reportedly among the guest features to be included.
