Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Migos and Lil’ Uzi Vert earned their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Bad and Boujee” on Monday, knocking Rae Sremmurd and Gucci Mane’s “Black Beatles” from the throne.
Much like Rae Sremmurd’s hit single, Migos can thank the creativity and support of their fans who helped the song go viral with hilarious tweets and memes playing off the song’s lyrics.
It’s likely that the song will only solidify it’s position next week following Donald Glover’s Golden Globes acceptance speech in which he thanked Migos for making the incredible song. Backstage, he also called Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff the black Beatles of his generation.
Today, the trio reciprocated the love shared by Glover by thanking him for his shout out. "It was an honor to have been on Atlanta as guests and to have our friend Donald Glover thank us in his Golden Globes acceptance speech is real recognizing real,” the trio said in a statement to Billboard. "We put our city on our backs and we want to thank him and the whole world for making 'Bad and Boujee' as successful as it is.”
