Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden was arrested on Saturday (27 June) following an alleged domestic violence incident.

As reported by Page Six, the “Girls Like You” musician was taken into custody in Los Angeles under the LAPD penal code 273.5(a), which covers charges for “willfully inflicting a ‘traumatic’ injury on a spouse or cohabitant”.

Madden, 41, is not married and the identity of his alleged victim is currently unknown.

The musician is expected to appear in court on 29 September, where he could face up to six years in prison and a £4,800 ($6,000) fine if found guilty.

A representative for Maroon 5 told Page Six: “We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news. As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously.

“For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.”

Madden has played with the band since 1994, when they initially performed under the name “Kara’s Flowers”.

In 2016, he was arrested for possession of cocaine and accepted a conditional dismissal offer in exchange for serving one day of community service.
