Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.McFly have recorded a new version of “All About You” to thank NHS key workers for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
Having originally recorded the song as a Comic Relief charity single in 2005, the British band shared a video from lockdown dedicated to workers on the frontlines in the battle against Covid-19.
“While we’re going through one of the most challenging times we will ever experience, we know that there are some incredible people out there risking their lives every day,” said guitarist and singer Danny Jones.
Drummer Harry Judd added: “Everyone in the NHS, all the carers, all the key workers who are still working to keep this country running, to keep us safe and keep us alive. We owe you so much right now.”
“We’ve recorded this song while we’re on lockdown to say that right now, it is without doubt all about you,” said singer Tom Fletcher.
The band then virtually came together with a new recording of the song, performed with the help of their families and pets.
All the royalties from the video will be donated to NHS Charities Together.
McFly announced their comeback in September, playing a one-off show at London’s O2 Arena in November. An 11-date UK tour scheduled for April was postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
