Madonna has hit back at an Instagram user who commented on her recent post about the shooting of Daunte Wright.

Wright, 20, was shot and killed by Minnesota police officer Kim Potter during a traffic stop last Sunday (11 April), in what police have claimed was an “accident”. His death has sparked protests and outrage across the US , with Potter and Brooklyn Center police chief Tim Gannon resigning from their positions yesterday.

On Instagram, Madonna shared a graphic video of the incident, alongside the caption: “This video of Daunte Wright’s shooting is deeply upsetting but equally so is Police Officer Tim Gannon’s explanation of how it was all an accident.

“The shooting officer had a taser in one hand and a hand gun in the other. She warned everyone she was going to taser a handcuffed. Daunte who was pulled over for a traffic violation and instead she shot and killed him!

“No way to fix this accident is there Tim?” she added. “This is so infuriating and unacceptable. God Bless Daunte and his family.#justicefordauntewright #guncontrol”

An Instagram user by the name of Karen commented under the post, claiming that stricter gun control regulation would endanger innocent people.

She accused Madonna of “not living in the real world”, and suggested that the musician had “people with guns to protect you and your family”.

Madonna then replied: “B**** I don’t have any security or armed guards around me. Come see me and tell me to my face how not real my world is. I dare you.

“You know nothing about me or my life. The only criminals I see right now are the police who are paid to protect the people. But police are protected by judges and the criminal justice system, which is a joke because there is no justice if you are a person of colour.”
