Madonna criticised for posting artwork of her kissing Snow White on Instagram

Madonna has sparked outrage yet again after posting an artwork of her kissing Disney princess Snow White on Instagram to promote her new album Rebel Heart.

Queen Madge shared Middle Eastern artist Saint Hoax’s design with more than three million followers on International Women’s Day, captioning it “Girl power! #rebelheart”.

The picture, which re-imagines the 56-year-old’s famous lip-locking with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the Video Music Awards in 2003, received a mixed response from fans on social media.

People were divided between supporting and attacking her post, with some accusing it of being anti-feminist and “ruining childhoods”.

“Grew up idolising Madonna, now I just see an attention seeker who is really just frightened of getting older and making desperate attempts at controversy,” one follower wrote under the artwork. “Would this have got so many likes if it was a man of the same age kissing Peter Pan? Doubt it!”

Others argued that the point of the picture was to show that Snow White “doesn’t need a man to save her”, with one user praising Madonna for “not being ruled by close-minded people and the taboos that control their lives”.

Saint Hoax has also depicted Madonna kissing Jasmine from Aladdin and Ariel from The Little Mermaid, but the pop icon only chose to share Snow White.

Perhaps Madonna is simply looking for the fastest way possible to detract attention from her epic tumble backwards down the stairs during her Brit Awards performance last month?
