From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The rapper was found dead aged 26 in his home near Los Angeles, California on 7 September 2018. The suspected cause of death was an accidental overdose.
On Monday, the late rapper’s peers including Kehlani, Chance the Rapper, SZA and G Eazy joined fans in remembering Miller’s talent and friendship.
“Thank you for allowing me in your space to discover myself and believing in me the entire time… I could never repay you,” SZA wrote on Twitter.
Chance the Rapper shared a post with his 8.3 million followers simply reading, “Mac was so cool.”
“You have two families, the family you’re born with and the family you choose,” Miller’s friend and collaborator Thundercat wrote on Twitter. “The family I chose, Not a day goes by I don’t feel it. I know y’all feel it too. Only bumping Mac Miller today.”
Miller’s posthumous album Circles was released in January earlier this year to critical acclaim. Last month, Miller’s estate released a deluxe version of his 2010 K.I.D.S. (mixtape) to commemorate the tenth anniversary of its release, featuring two new tracks “Ayye” and “Back in the Day”.
The artist, a platinum hip-hop star, had struggled with substance abuse in the past. Miller opened up about his drug use and struggle with depression on his 2014 album Faces.
At 15 years old, Miller released his first mixtape in 2007 under the stage name EZ Mac. He later signed with Rostrum Records under the name Mac Miller, and his debut album Blue Slide Park reached the top of the Billboard charts in 2011.
The Grammy-nominated rapper released a total of five studio albums, collaborating with artists including Earl Sweatshirt, Talib Kweli, and Schoolboy Q.
