Louis Tomlinson will not face charges over an altercation that took place at LAX airport last month where he was filmed in a scuffle with a photographer.
The former One Direction singer was arrested on 3 March after the incident at the airport in LA, where video footage showed him wrestling on the floor with a man who had tried to take pictures of him and his girlfriend.
Tomlinson had been travelling with Eleanor Calder after a holiday in Las Vegas. While the altercation took place with the paparazzi, footage showed a group of women had surrounded his girlfriend and appeared to be attacking her.
Tomlinson was then seen trying to rush to her defence. The 25-year-old was accused of battery and arrested before being released on bail set at $25,000 (£16,000).
Prosecutors had previously said he would have to wait up to a year to find out about the charges, but now say it is unlikely that he will face legal action after a hearing later this month.
A spokesperson for LA City Attorney's Office said: "Each of the parties will be interviewed regarding the incident and advised of the law and ways to avoid similar incidences in the future.
"Typically there is no further action taken by our office after the hearing. We do reserve the right to file charges up to one year from the date of the original incident should additional information or future actions require additional measures."
A lawyer for Tomlinson blamed photographers at the time and said they had "provoked" him.
"While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defence," he said.
