From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The four members, backed by a mammoth gospel choir, sang a mash up of Jason Derulo’s "Want To Want Me" and Houston’s "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".

Fans of the band have taken to Twitter to praise the cover, calling it “brilliant” and the “best cover they’ve ever done”.
In other Little Mix news, the group are heading for a third week at number one with their song “Black Magic”, but at the midweek stage are currently fending off competition from Sigma and Ella Henderson’s “Glitterball”.
In much sadder news, Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown died earlier this week aged 22.
A representative for the Houston family said Bobbi Kristina passed away surrounded by her family, seven months after being found unresponsive in a bath tub at the home she shared with her boyfriend Nick Gordon, who she referred to as her husband, in Atlanta.
