A lot of covers of trending songs are met with a fairly universal ‘meh’, but not those by Erykah Badu, who’s been killing it with her remixes lately.

First came her show-stopping take on Drake’s Hotline Bling, and now she’s added her own flavour to Kanye’s new track, Real Friends.

“JUST ride out to this…,” she wrote on Soundcloud. “TRILL FRIENDS. REMIX of REAL FRIENDS by KANYE WEST what up yeezy?

“From the forthcoming mix tape ‘THIS $h!t TOO EASY’.”

‘Real Friends’ was posted by Kanye over the weekend along with a snippet of another new track with Kendrick Lamar.

It’s a lot less abrasive than the material on Yeezus, with a laidback and kind of trap-y chorus, and could almost have sat on 808s and Heartbreak.

There’s no word yet on whether ‘Real Friends’ will feature on his upcoming next album, or indeed when that record will even drop as it’s been in the pipeline for quite some time now.
