From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The legendary performer will play Manchester Arena on 28 June before heading down to London for two nights on 2 and 3 July.
Richie has built up a reputation for high energy live shows with a party atmosphere and will be treating fans to renditions of hits from “Hello” and “Easy” to “Say You Say Me” and “All Night Long”.
“It’s been an unforgettable year and I can’t wait to return to the UK to see my fans,” he said. “It’s always been a really special place for me and this year in particular the UK has been incredible to me. I’m excited to be getting out there and seeing some new faces and I’m sure some old ones too!”
Richie earned glowing reviews for his sellout tour last year and drew the biggest crowd at Glastonbury with 100,000 flocking to watch his Sunday afternoon Pyramid Stage set.
His album The Definitive Collection reached number one in the UK album charts for the first time in 23 years.
