From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Before Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington died earlier this year, the band recorded an episode Carpool Karaoke.

Following the tragic incident, James Corden said the episode would not air unless approved by the musician’s family.

Linkin Park has now announced that the episode will broadcast next week, on Thursday, 12 October, appearing on Apple TV and being streamed for free on Facebook.

Ken Jeong — best known for appearing in The Hangover movies and the TV series Community — appears alongside the band.

Cordon previously said of the episode: "We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled. We consider it not our decision to make.

"We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don't think there's any other way we could deal with it. It's a tragedy.”

Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles home, aged 41. Following his death, Bennington's band mates created a suicide prevention website where fans can leave their own tributes as well as seek advice should they need it.
